I was at the airport recently and was people watching.
I saw a toddler running at full speed but one hand was firmly held by her mom. It was fun to watch her try different tactics to get away from her mother’s grasp.
That’s the beauty of a budget.
It keeps you in check.
And helps you spend with a purpose.
Many people view a budget as a straitjacket…. to keep them from doing what they want.
But that is not so!
A budget doesn’t limit your freedom, it gives you freedom!
With a budget, you become intentional with where your money goes.
You now have an action plan and a clear picture of where your money is ending up each month.
Who wouldn’t want that?
A budget will help you achieve the goals you’re working towards.
Goals like getting out of debt, saving for retirement, or just trying to keep your grocery bill from getting out of hand.
Listen……
When you see budgeting as simply spending your money intentionally, you’ll spend without feeling guilty!
You may even find “extra” money after you create a realistic budget and stick with it!!
How amazing is that?
So……
Take that leap.
And set up your budget today.
Here are 3 budgeting tips:
Make it a team effort. It’s important to talk to your spouse or partner about money and budgeting. This kind of close communication and collaboration can do wonders to your relationship as well!
How cool is that?!
Budgeting will help you create a life you love together!
Make it a date. Sit down together and have a go at it.
You can thank me later!
Make it fun! Most people think of money in somewhat bad terms, and for many money is a huge stressor.
The first fun step is to change any negative view you have about money. It’s time to see money as a tool. One that will help you achieve what you’ve always wanted.
Next, grab some of your favorite snacks and put on a good playlist to help you focus.
Finally, don’t forget to celebrate the small wins!
Give yourself lots of grace. It usually takes three to four months to get a handle on this whole budgeting thing.
You won’t be perfect the first time, or the second, or the third.
But you’ll get there!
When you realize the purpose of budgeting isn’t to limit your freedom but to give you freedom, you’ll be on the road to loving your life and your bank account!
That’s definitely winning with money!
Don’t wait.
Doing things right financially will benefit you and your family.
Get started now!
And bring more enjoyment into your life while you work towards your financial goals.
