What’s your answer to this age-old question: can money buy happiness?
I’m sure, like me, you’ll quickly say NO!
Yet, many of us pursue it with a high expectation that when we finally get enough of it, we’ll be really happy!!
Dream with me……
If you get the bigger house, the right car, the right salary, would you kick up your heels and revel in your success?
I sure would!!!
Growing up, I was taught that “money is the root of all evil.” But now I know it’s “the LOVE of money” that’s considered the root of all evil.
I also know that money is a resource….. a very valuable one.
Your belief system can really mess you up as you strive towards your goals.
Here’s something interesting……
Researchers have discovered some information that may challenge your notions about money and happiness.
First of all, the less money you have, the more it can impact your happiness when you get more of it.
For example……
If you make $10,000 and you quadruple your income to $40,000, your satisfaction with your life will improve significantly. But beyond $40,000, your satisfaction increases only slightly as your income goes up.
That’s not to say you shouldn’t pursue making more money, just know that money is a resource that requires personal discipline.
Questions……
#1…..
In what way(s) do you feel pressured to “keep up” financially?
Bottom line……
Living below our means will increase our happiness.
If you double your income, then double or triple your expenses, you set yourself up for stress and anxiety.
#2…..
Can you pay your bills?
Bottom line……
The easier it is to pay your bills, the happier you’ll likely be.
When it comes to happiness and money, it’s not how much of it you make but how you manage what you make.
So…..
Focus on widening the gap between your income and expenses by spending less, making more, or doing both.
And….
When you get extra money, be a blessing.
We don’t need research to confirm this, but it does….. we’re happier when we give!
I look forward to hearing from you!!
If you found value, please feel free to share!!!
Until next time…..
