Fake it till you make it?
Really?
3 years ago when I decided to steadily share positive, uplifting posts on social media
I was stepping outside my “behind the scenes” comfort zone.
In the beginning…..
It felt false and I felt like a fake because my life was upside down at the time.
But I had a dream.
And I was willing to do the work.
So I became a sponge.
And believed that it would get better as time goes by.
It did!
I’m grateful for my daily mental mindset training
And my mentors!
They kept me going and helped me stay committed and consistent.
The key to getting better is hard work and practice.
And you must be willing to step outside your comfort zone.
But by no means fake it.
Because faking it leaves out the most critical part of the equation:
Effort.
If you’re faking it….
1. You’re trying to look smarter than you really are.
- Instead…. invest the time and energy to become a true expert in what you are doing.
- Read books and articles, watch videos and hang out with people who are where you want to be.
2. You’re trying to sound like you know all the answers.
- Instead…. be honest. No one knows all the answers.
- Be truthful about your weaknesses. Be real. Be authentic.
Instead of wasting your time trying to be someone you’re not,
First….
Identify something within yourself that’s holding you back.
Analyze your strengths and weaknesses, create an improvement plan, seek out mentors and ask for support.
Then…..
Invest effort into developing the skills and gaining the experience you’ll need to be successful in what you’re doing.
Finally….
Learn how to be the best person you can be and get to the place where you’re comfortable with all your unique qualities.
Because life is too short to spend even a minute on trying to “fake it till you make it.”
Becoming the person you want to be is about changing the way you feel, the way you think and the way you act.
It’s about changing yourself on the inside, not simply trying to change other people’s perceptions of you.
Until next time…..
