Late last year I declared #WarOnDebt! I got really mad about the money I could be saving instead of paying bills.
Another birthday had rolled around and I was staring down the barrel of a “getting old” gun.” It was not a pleasant feeling. But instead of getting discouraged and sorry for myself for all the D-U-M-B mistakes I’ve made, I got really mad and decided to get even.
So I started making changes.
By the end of the year, 3 bills were gone. And based on my budget projections this year, I’m fixing to add 10 more to the list! Exciting!!
I know… I know….. I’ve got quite a few to go but I’m in battle mode. It’s game on!
I also took on another project…..
When the New Year rolled around, I was knee deep in the Ramsey Solutions Financial Coaching course because I had seen the light.
Here’s what happened…..
My credit score was really bad. So I was on a quest to “fix” it. But in pursuing a higher personal credit score and helping others “fix” their credit, I discovered truth.
The truth is…..
What we really need is financial fitness.
Becoming financially fit will not only teach you how to become good stewards of your God-given resources, and help you practice wise financial discipleship, it will fix your credit, wipe away debt in the process, and you’ll gain financial freedom and have the ability to build true wealth!!
That’s awesome!!!
Here are 4 benefits of financial fitness:
- Financial impact – those who have a budget have a high level of financial success.
- Spiritual impact – a plan gives you peace. Having it on paper gives you a sense of empowerment
- Emotional impact – when your life and finances are organized and ordered, you get a sense of personal wellbeing.
- Relational impact – improves communication and cooperation between spouses and partners.
These days, no matter how much you earn, getting by is still a struggle for most people.
Here are some stats…..
- Nearly 10 percent of those making $100,000 or more say they can’t make ends meet.
- Overall, most workers said they were in debt and many believed they would always be.
- Seventy-eight percent of full-time workers said they live paycheck to paycheck.
- Fewer than one in four Americans have enough money in their savings account to cover at least six months of expenses.
- 22% of people surveyed had less than $100 in savings to cover an emergency, while 46% had less than $800.
Everyone has money goals, and financially, most of us know what to do; we just have trouble doing it. We all struggle with doing what we need to do to get to our goals.
That’s where a coach can help.
