I know a few money savvy nurses who, not only look like they have their finances under control, they actually do!!
And they motivate and inspire me on a daily basis.
One of these nurses reached out to me on LinkedIn recently.
I had congratulated him on a new position and he responded to say that he is now at a level where he can move to work only part-time!
That’s exciting!!
One thing my friends have in common is this: they are debt-FREE!
They avoid consumer debt and do not carry balances on credit cards.
How many of us can confidently say that we have our credit card use under control?
Or pay off their balances every month?
If that’s you…… more power to you.
On the other hand, how many of us struggle to make that minimum payment?
Maybe miss a few payments from time to time?
Despite what commercials, celebrity spokespeople, and the Joneses next door will tell you, very few people use their credit card responsibly.
Here’s the low down on credit card use…
- The total revolving consumer credit debt reached $1.027 trillion in March of 2018.
- The average credit card balance was $6,354 in 2017.
- 43 percent of families are living past their income means and are turning to credit card and revolving consumer credit to finance their expenses.
- Only 35% of credit card users pay off their balance in full every month. That means 65% of people DON”T!
Why play with fire?
There’s certainly a better way!!
But it takes shifting and committing and sacrificing.
You won’t get rich from cash-back bonuses, reward points, or airline miles.
But your chances get better every year that you’re intentional with every dollar you earned and spend.
Can you imagine a life without student loans, credit card balances and car payments?
You’d be able to enjoy paid-for vacations you only dreamed about when you were enslaved to debt.
And you’d be free to do whatever you wanted.
It all starts with you making a plan for your money and making a commitment to stay away from debt!
Sharing is Caring. If you found value, please feel free to share.
Until next time…..
