Are you living the life you want?
There are always new and different ways to improve our way of living. It is up to each of us to create and live the life we want. When you create a balanced life, you feel calm, grounded & motivated. You have a positive outlook and is focusing on good habits that will maintain your health and lower your stress level. A good sense of humor and the support of friends and family can also play an important role in your overall well-being. The biggest misstep anyone can make is to accept someone else’s version of what “having it all” really means. So, make a conscious decision every day to just be you. The key is to keep progressing positively.
Several months ago I ‘dipped my toes’ into the blogging pool and it was a brave and so far, rewarding move. I’ve learned a lot more than I anticipated and have used that knowledge to make several positive changes to my lifestyle:
- Even though there’s no specific water requirement, I regularly drink 8 – 10 eight-ounce glasses of water daily because I see the benefits to my body and my skin.
- After doing research on the difference in plate sizes for one of my blogs, I made adjustments to the amount of food on my dinner plate and I started a weight management project. I’ve lost weight and several inches since then.
- Prior to starting my weight management project, I completed a genetic test to determine areas that I should work on. Although I wasn’t thrilled with the results, I decided to follow the recommendations and have since decreased my daily calorie intake and increased the amount of time I spend exercising.
- The Bodykey online weight management tool, part of the weight management project, made the most impact. I was able to record my daily food and water intake, hours of sleep and time spent exercising. I became more aware of the calorie and fat content in some of the foods I was eating and, because of the visible measurements, I am able to manage, eliminate and adjust food and food groups to help me achieve my goal of living a healthier lifestyle.
Day by day I’m learning and growing and I’ve discovered that I don’t ‘want it all,’ I just want enough. Enough time to spend with my family, enough time to research and write, and enough opportunities to add value and make a difference.
Achieving balance isn’t easy. And living a healthy lifestyle takes work.
- A well-balanced life is essential for personal effectiveness, peace of mind and living well.
- You cannot accomplish anything if you’re unhealthy. Get plenty of rest, exercise and eat properly
- Examine your values and decide what’s important to you; then set your boundaries
- Be organized and plan ahead. Be sure also to allow for recreation and quality time for yourself and your family.
- Rather than get stressed and upset, learn to roll with the punches when something over which you have no control happens.
A healthy, happy mind contributes to overall good health and well-being. When you find ways to enrich or change your life, a natural extension of that is to share them with others.
