Hi! I’m Althea McLeish.

Life happens and change is inevitable. To get more out of life and live the life we dream of, we have to constantly strive to become more!

With that in mind, I went on a mission to maintain a positive attitude, find ways to do things better, and teach others how to do the same. Invest. Learn. Teach.

I’m a NursePreneur: a Registered Nurse by training and an entrepreneur by choice.

Since 1995, I’ve been bitten by the entrepreneurial bug and I’m smitten with the idea of “getting what I want by helping others get what they want.”

• I am a Registered Nurse (RN), since 1986.
• I completed my doctorate in nursing practice (DNP) in 2023, and hold a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) in Nursing Leadership & Management.
• I am a Ramsey Financial Coach.
• I have extensive experience in health and wellness and I am a lifelong learner of wealth building and financial health.
• I enjoy coaching, teaching, training, writing, and encouraging others to be their best.
• I’m a chronic learner and I’m constantly looking for ways to do things better.

I’ve been a registered nurse (RN) for almost 40 years and I currently reside in Florida. I was trained as a nurse in Jamaica and moved to New York City in my early twenties.

I worked for 4 years in Jamaica, and spent 12 years working as an RN in New York City in various healthcare settings, then relocated to Florida in 2002.

I returned to NYC in 2010 with all intent to make a “financial killing” as a nurse! But I didn’t last long. I was homesick for Florida, so I returned home the following year.

I enjoy giving back.

I am a member of a medical mission team and I look forward to our annual mission trips to South America. In 2016, the team touched the lives of many underprivileged children in the Dominican Republic.

In 2017, we were in Paraguay, and in 2018 and 2019, we went to Ecuador where we touched the lives of many children and families.

My sweet spot is writing, teaching, training, mentoring, and encouraging others to be their best.

My mission is to educate, empower & encourage, touch lives and make a difference, and my motto is ‘Do My Best Today and Try Even Harder Tomorrow!”

The goal of this blog is to provide value and solutions; pass along facts, products, tips, savings, and information, and hope that in the end, I make a difference.

I truly believe in having multiple streams of income.

I’ve been involved in network marketing and learned a lot during my time with the company, but I have a passion for consulting and coaching.

In addition to working as an RN in a busy ER, I currently own and operate a freelance nurse writing business at DrMcRNwriter.com. I am also a blogger and a content marketer.

I am passionate about adding my insider knowledge and experience to health, wellness, and medical content, as well as providing knowledge and resources regarding nursing, leadership, mental mindset, and money.

My overall goal is to help busy nurses & professionals grow, personally and professionally, become good stewards of their financial resources, and practice wise financial discipleship to create an amazing, thriving life!

This journey was born as I steadily climbed out of my financial mess.

It started with me pursuing a high personal credit score and helping others “fix” their credit. While doing so, I had an “aha” moment: what we really need is financial fitness.

Here’s the truth, becoming financially fit will not only teach you how to become good stewards of your God-given resources, and help you practice wise financial discipleship, it will fix your credit, wipe away debt in the process, and you’ll gain financial freedom and have the ability to build true wealth!!
