I work for a company that has, in my opinion, great benefits.
I signed up for all that I was eligible for when I was hired and recently started buying stock options when it was offered.
I know very little about stocks, but I’m learning.
I’m also taking steps to access the new student loan repayment benefit!
Everything adds up and it will help to pay my biggest bill!!
Most employees are aware of the top 5 company benefits, but few of us take the time to learn about other perks that are available.
Do you know what benefits your company offers?
How many are you participating in?
Understanding your company’s employee benefits program can be a little daunting. The choices are endless and so are the frustrations.
But it may be worth your time and effort to find out more.
Can you imagine refusing a portion of your paycheck and instead, give the money back to your employer?
That’s essentially what you’re doing if you fail to use your benefits to their full extent.
Here are the top 5 company benefits available to employees:
- Health care
- Retirement
- Paid time off
- Wellness programs
- Tuition reimbursement
Financial fitness and health coaching, travel allowance and office commute are some other perks on the rise.
If you’re not sure what kind of incentives and discounts are available at your company, check their HR website or contact your HR representative.
One of my daughters worked for a NYC company for 5 years and did not tap into any of the benefits they offered. When she separated from the company, she could have had 401K and pension savings to take with her.
Lesson learned.
Don’t make the same mistake.
Every little adds up and can equal a couple thousand dollars per year!
Literally, cash in your pocket!!
Be smart. Optimize your benefits.
Participate in wellness activities. You might be eligible for a small bonus just for signing up. If you are not a smoker, you may save on your health insurance….like ME!
It’s money back into my pocket.
Think beyond the traditional workplace offerings. Dive into the nitty-gritty with your HR and learn more about options that are not traditional.
The more you know, the easier it becomes to make sound financial decisions.
