Are You Ready to Bloom Where You Are?

I’ve been in my current position at work for 3 months now and I’m still struggling with the “menial tasks,” as I call them.

They take up a lot of my work day and I’d rather delegate them, but they rest squarely on my shoulders.

I prefer to do budgets and reports and training and evaluations.

Not answering the phone or breaking down charts or making new charts or answering call bells.

But these are all part of the position I now hold.

I was discussing my struggle at our breakfast table one day and my partner said something that got me thinking.

He said, “Your master’s degree got you through the door to this position but your performance in this role will take you to the next level.”

That is the truth.

So….

How about you?

Are you getting the kind of results you want at work?

If you’re like many professionals, the answer is no.

But before you change jobs…. or worse

Resign yourself to a mediocre work life

Ask yourself…..

Am I really giving 100%?

Every chapter in your life builds a foundation to launch the next chapter.

And you have a choice

You can either feel sorry for yourself, wondering why you’re not where you want to be and cursing the situation that you are in,

Or you can look at it as a lesson.

100% starts with bringing the right attitude to work

And to everything you do.

And a simple decision to bloom where you are planted.

This means….

1. Be grateful for your present situation.
2. Take advantage of the opportunities that come your way.
3. Work on cultivating the right mentality.
4. Appreciate the present and accept changes and setbacks.
5. Take risks, make connections, and work your hardest.
6. Last…. but not least…. make the most of every day.

We can’t always choose the cards we’re dealt, but we can learn to play them.

So instead of getting bitter and upset at your situation

Be like a flower that grows through a crack in the concrete.

Make the best of your situation and bloom where you are planted.
