Is your skincare regimen taking the best care of your skin?
One of the best ways to improve the look of your skin is to keep it clean and fresh and hydrated. While it is natural for our face to lose some of its youthful fullness as we age, all skin types need adequate water content to maintain it’s healthy look. Dry skin lacks sufficient oils while dehydrated skin is caused by a lack of sufficient water in the skin’s outermost layers. Dehydration and dryness both cause your skin to look and feel the same way: tight, taut, uncomfortable, itchy, easily irritated, dull, lack-luster, rough, possibly flaky, and even red. Many things cause our skin to age but our genes largely control when these changes occur. With time, we all get visible lines on our face and we’ll notice our skin becoming thinner and drier. Some things we cannot do anything about, but others we can influence.
4-Step Regimen: The healthy look and well-being of your skin depend on a proper 4-step regimen that addresses your specific needs.
- Step 1: Cleanse – cleanse your skin twice daily, day and night, to sweep away makeup and pore-clogging impurities.
- Step 2: Tone – apply toner to complete the cleansing process and prepare tour skin for treatment products.
- Step 3: Treat – use treatment products to address specific skincare concerns, like fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, discoloration, blemishes and uneven skin tone.
- Step 4: Moisturize – Apply moisturizer to your eyes first then to your face, day and night. Use a tapping motion to apply to your eyes. Apply a pea-size drop of cream or lotion and gently massage into your face and neck with a circular motion. Like your wardrobe, your daily moisturizer may change with the seasons.
Review your skincare regimen. If you haven’t found a good moisturizer, now’s the time. The right formula will keep your skin smooth and supple.
