For most people, the holiday is a time to relax, spend time with their loved ones, see some sights, and make some memories.
But it’s not like that for everyone.
The holidays can be very stressful and it’s easy to feel pressured into overspending on either presents, travel, social outings or charitable donations during the holiday season.
As one of the most expensive time of year, the holidays can, quite frankly, put some of us in debt way into the New Year.
But there are things you can do to prevent this cycle.
Before you succumb to the financial stress of the season, consider these points to help you enjoy more of the holidays:
1. Don’t wait to start planning on how to pay for the holidays.
2. Be realistic about how much you can afford to spend. Don’t add to your debt.
3. Look for ways to save on gifts. Consider re-gifting.
4. Go shopping with a list and track your spending.
5. Instead of exchanging gifts with everyone, host a pot-luck get-together instead and use the time to play games and build memories.
Christmas is closing in fast, but there’s still time to take these proactive steps to avoid feeling overwhelmed and stressed out.
With enough planning, savvy and creativity, your holiday can go from frenzied and frazzled to fun and fabulous with a debt-free holiday season that doesn’t break the bank.

Until next time…..
