No one’s life is as perfect as it seems.
This might seem incredibly obvious
But with our highly filtered social media feeds
It’s easy to think that everyone’s real lives are just as happy and sunny as their social media feeds.
Filled with sunsets, smoothie bowls, and dinners with friends.
But whether it’s a major obstacle….. a sick loved one or a failed relationship
Or a more “minor” setback…. like a delayed flight, fallout with a friend or pressure from your boss.
Every one of us is dealing with some situation that’s kinda shitty.
Let’s be real for a second because I’m completely guilty of it too…..
My photos are mostly about fun occasions.
I don’t post about the times when I’m feeling sad and lonely
Or when I’m overwhelmed and frustrated
Or when I get really anxious about why I’m not as “successful” or “happy” as others seem to be.
If you judge my life by my social media feeds, you’ll be impressed, and maybe even a little bit jealous.
But it’s not always peachy.
We’ve been programmed to see failure as negative so most of us end up being crippled by the fear of it.
As adults, failure tends to be more public than success.
So we fret about it
And try to avoid it.
But the simple truth is….
No great success was ever achieved without failure.
It may be one epic failure or a series of failures.
And, whether we like it or not
Failure is a necessary stepping stone to achieving our dreams.
So here are 3 reasons why it’s OK to fail….
Three strong reasons why we should embrace failure and recognize it as an essential component of our growth.
Hopefully, they’ll inspire you to look at failure differently.
1. The most successful people failed time and time again.
“Failures are finger posts on the road to achievement” — C.S. Lewis
If you examine the leading names in any industry and you’ll find that these individuals had to overcome adversity to reach the top.
Setbacks and mistakes are wonderful opportunities to learn and reassess your approach.
It may not feel like it at the time, so it’s important to manage your attitude, mental mindset, and desire.
2. You become more resilient
“Life’s challenges are not supposed to paralyze you, they’re supposed to help you discover who you are.” – Bernice Johnson Reagon
The old adage “what doesn’t kill you will make you stronger” holds true.
To thrive you need to develop a thick skin and possess unwavering faith.
If you fail, you must be willing to pick yourself up and try again.
3. It causes you to evolve
“Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it.” ― Andy Rooney
Life is all about growing and learning through many different experiences.
Failure can be an opportunity to re-envision your goals and gain a new perspective.
When you make mistakes, learn what not to do next time.
Then push forward, full steam ahead.
At the end of the day….
Don’t allow failure or the fear of failure to paralyze you and keep you from getting started or starting over.
The only limitations you have are the ones you put on yourself.
Remember…..
It’s all mental.
You only truly fail when you quit trying.
Until next time…..
I look forward to hearing from you!!
