Good skin that lasts a lifetime doesn’t happen by accident.
The appearance of your skin is a reflection of health and a measure of age and beauty. Healthy-looking skin depends on the fitness of its components, especially its cells. Collagen and elastin give your skin strength and flexibility and contribute to its youthful, healthy appearance.
Of course, your skin is quite complex. It’s the body’s largest organ, it has 3 main layers and it acts as a protective, dynamic interface between itself and the environment. A driving force of visible aging is changes in cells in the first and second layers of your skin, the epidermis and dermis.
We all want to look our best as we face the world each day. Here are 3 key properties for flawless skin:
- An even, clear tone
- Luminosity, bright and radiant for an outer glow
- Translucency, giving it an inner glow
Merely living our lives expose us to six factors that can damage our skin at the cellular level: UV exposure, climate changes, lifestyle habits, internal factors, chronological age and improper skincare regimen.
Restore your skin’s glow with these beauty tips:
- Sun habits: The same summer sun that calls you outside to enjoy the fresh air can wreak havoc on your body. Skin and hair damage can happen quickly and plays a major role in prematurely aging our skin, so protect your skin from the sun every day no matter your age. Guard against both UVA and UVB rays to fight signs of aging, and other damage caused by the sun,
- Smoking: Smoking speeds up how quickly skin ages. It causes wrinkles and a dull, sallow complexion. Nicotine encourages collagen cross-linking, which reduces elasticity, and narrows blood vessels, which prevents oxygen and nutrients from getting to the capillaries in the dermis. This results in premature wrinkles and sagging skin.
- Diet: Eat healthy, well-balanced meals and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Studies suggest that eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables may help prevent damage that leads to premature skin aging. Although some guidelines say all drinks hydrate, there’s nothing more powerful as plain water to flush out toxins from your.
- Limit alcohol: Alcohol is rough on your skin. It dehydrates the skin, causing it to look shriveled and dull, and over time, damages the skin. This can make us look older.
- Exercise: Studies suggest that moderate exercise can improve circulation and boost your immune system. This, in turn, gives your skin a more youthful appearance. Exercise increases cellular metabolism and reduces cortisol levels, which also helps in stress management. Stick to a good weekly schedule and make sure to clean your skin thoroughly after your workout.
- Beauty sleep: “Beauty” sleep is not just an old wives’ tale. The experts agree, if you want healthy, younger-looking skin you need to get at least seven hours of good sleep. Sleep is essential to encourage cell and tissue regeneration and to prevent dark circles and bags under the eyes. Chronic sleep deprivation leads to a dull, dehydrated complexion and can wreak havoc on skin prone to acne.
- Skin Care: Cleanse your skin gently. Scrubbing can irritate your skin which may accelerate the aging process. Gentle washing helps to remove pollution, makeup, and other substances without irritating your skin. Apply a facial moisturizer every day. Moisturizer traps water in our skin, giving it a more youthful appearance. It’s essential to have a good daily home skin care practice using the correct products for your individual skin type.
It’s never too late…..
Take time out to nurture yourself daily and enjoy the benefits of feeling and looking healthy and happy for a lifetime. Even people who already have signs of premature skin aging can benefit from making lifestyle changes. The objective is first, to keep your skin as youthful and healthy as long as you can. Second, promote healthy cell renewal, hydrate, nourish and protect. With simple and sensible health and skin care strategies, you can look good at any age.
The sooner you begin to care for the skin, the better.
