In 1990 I said goodbye to my life in Jamaica.
A very excited almost 24-year-old heading to Brooklyn NY!
I left with a dream in my heart to become a doctor but got very discouraged when I compared the life of a doctor in the US with that of the ones I knew in Jamaica.
But the dream returned a few years ago when I was introduced to the DNP – Doctor of Nursing Practice.
I was still on the fence until last year
When I met Trish and she introduced me to the DNP – Executive Track.
That’s it! I said to her……
That’s the one for me!!
However, I still had to wait.
Because the timing was not right.
And I was not ready.
Sometimes, for more reasons than one, some dreams take time.
And sometimes dreams are delayed because we’re not ready…. we need to learn more…. grow more….. or do more.
Recently, my friend Alton sent me a devotional via WhatsApp.
It was really timely for me.
Here’s an exert…..
A woman finds out she’s pregnant and is very excited.
Even though she doesn’t look any different on the outside, she’s overjoyed and begins to plan and prepare for her new baby.
As the months pass by,
She moves out of the fun, easy stage of conception and into the much more difficult stage of development.
Here she becomes uncomfortable, swollen, can’t sleep at night, her back aches and someone is constantly sitting on her bladder!
It gets even harder the closer she gets to delivery.
The same thing happens with our dreams.
It’s easy to stay encouraged and full of faith in the beginning.
But the real test is when we go through the development process.
Here’s a question for you……
Are you willing to keep a good attitude even when you’re uncomfortable and things aren’t going your way?
Are you willing to stand and fight the good fight of faith until you give birth to your dreams?
If you’re standing for something today, keep standing.
Keep believing even when you don’t see anything happening.
Hold on to that promise even when it’s uncomfortable because very soon you’ll give birth to the dream and desires in your heart!
Until next time…..
Keep dreaming.
Keep the faith.
Keep believing.

I look forward to hearing from you!!
