Thanksgiving’s arrived, and we’re on the home stretch to Christmas. But for most of us, the holidays come with its own “to-do” list and its own stressors.
With the gift-giving, the cooking, the decorations and the parties, the holidays can be more work than fun.
We have high expectations and sometimes stretch ourselves beyond our limits. Leaving us feeling impatient, cranky, depressed and stressed!
With the few days left ’till Christmas, here are 7 ways to de-stress during the holidays:
- Make a change. Take one task that drives you crazy during the holidays and tackle it in a new way.
- Know when to say NO. Say YES to only meaningful events, otherwise you’ll end up feeling resentful and overwhelmed.
- Keep gatherings small and intimate. Get together with a few of your closest friends or relatives for the holidays.
- Don’t hesitate to ask for help. Most of your guests will welcome the opportunity to help out instead of standing around while you attempt to do everything yourself.
- Bring along a positive attitude. Plan ahead and be prepared for the unexpected. The holidays don’t have to be perfect.
- Choose travel-proof gifts. Make the most of your money this season. I’m not trying to burst your holiday shopping bubble, but remember this: Christmas is all about finding joy by spending time with others and blessing them, not spending money just because every Christmas commercial told you to.
- Remember to have fun. Make relaxation time a priority. Take a deep breath and savor the moment…… there’s still so much to be grateful for.
Ready or not, Christmas is finally here!
So, plan ahead and be prepared for the unexpected. The holidays doesn’t have to be perfect to be memorable, enjoyable and fun.
